India has already used 300 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation. According to Akashvani correspondent data, India has set a target of 500 gigawatts for 2030 but has already used 60 per cent of the installed non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said that India has already reached more than 54 per cent of non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation capacity. This has added to the growth of clean energy generation that is driven by strong contributions across fields.
Solar energy contributes to a key growth engine with more than 165 gigawatts. Currently, renewable energy generation has increased to more than 477 billion units in 2025-2026, which is important to shape India's energy independence and industrial competitiveness.
