Sridhar Vembu, co-founder of Zoho, said in a Twitter post that increasing memory costs are making it difficult to run the business as AI infrastructure demand is growing. Vembu wrote in a Twitter post that in a year, memory prices have risen 10x, and Zoho has tried to avoid passing the higher expenses to customers, but it is becoming difficult.
Currently, the cost of a DDR5-6400 memory kit is Rs 40,000, and there is a need for highly memory-efficient languages. Vembu also highlighted that memory-efficient computing is an active research topic. The fact that chipmakers are allocating production capacity for HBM used in AI servers has led to tighter supplies and an increase in prices across consumer memory markets.
