Life Insurance Corporation of India Increases Its Shareholding In HDFC Bank

LIC has received approval to increase its shareholding capacity in HDFC Bank to 10 percent. RBI has given permission to LIC, and now LIC can acquire additional shares of the bank. LIC has a 4.11 percent stake in HDFC Bank, and it will acquire 5.88 percent more bank shares, but it will have to comply with FEMA and SEBI regulations, including the Banking Regulation Act 1949.
 
The net profit of HDFC Bank in the first quarter has increased to 4.98 percent, to Rs 19,059.72 crore. HDFC Bank's net interest income has increased to Rs 33,535.95 crore, and the net interest margin was 3.26 percent of the total assets. In 2026, HDFC Bank's deposits increased to Rs 30.386 billion, while the loan book increased to 13.3 percent, and the gross NPA increased to 1.17 percent, compared to 1.15 percent.
