At the American Society of Oncology meeting in Chicago, more than 7000 studies were presented that were significant against the disease. A treatment developed by Revolution Medicines involves a new molecule called daraxonrasib. This treatment showcased efficacy in patients suffering from an aggressive disease.
There were results that half of the patients survived for more than 13 months; that was an unpredictable shift in how we treat advanced pancreatic cancer, said Monty Pal. Scientists also hope for new treatments, such as a molecule that targets a protein implicated in different types of cancer.
Personalized Prostate Cancer Solutions
Studies also found that prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths. Another study that transforms the management of patients who are experiencing genetic mutations may develop aggressive disease. Scientists conducted a study where a treatment was done using a combination of drugs in these patients: a medicine called enzalutamide blocks the hormonal signals, and talazoparib is responsible for the DNA repair mechanism within the cancer cells. Patients suffering from a BRCA2 genetic mutation and the addition of the talazoparib drug decreased the death rate by 65 percent. These are phenomenal results and are a step forward, according to Karim Fizazi, a French-Moroccan professor.
